Caden and Maddux Open Up September with Strong Finishes.

PELHAM, AL - On September 3rd, Caden Mullinax snagged his third top ten finish of his Super Season, followed by Maddux Mullinax's second place finish the following Saturday.

On September 3rd, the Mullinax Racing Team travelled to Duck River Raceway Park for the fourth time this season for the Sam Pugh Memorial. This $5,000 to win race was one that both Caden and the rest of the team had been looking forward to for a while and would serve as a great opportunity to pick up a good finishing position.

With twenty-six Super Late Models attempting to start, the field was filled with heavy hitters like Sam Seawright, Oakley Johns, Christian Hanger, and Josh Putnam. Despite this, the team was confident in both their car and driver.

The night started out well during hotlaps, with Caden feeling out his car and coming out in the top half of the timing charts. When he went back out for qualifying, Caden set the thirteenth fastest lap time with a 13.399 which set him up for a good spot in the heat race.

Caden started fourth in the first heat race where he ran for the first few laps until Oakley Johns hit the wall in turn four, bringing out a caution. Caden was under pressure during the final few laps by Camaron Marlar who eventually took third place from Caden when he slipped up in the final corner of the race. Caden would start thirteenth in the feature.

When the green flag dropped for the feature event Caden quickly moved to twelfth, where he would battle within the main pack of the race. This battle continued until Caden pushed in the middle of turn four and hit another car, blowing the number five car's tire and bringing out a caution.

Caden continued to race hard in eleventh before getting by one more car near the end of the race to come home tenth. This top ten was Caden's third of the year and second at Duck River in four races.

The next weekend, Saturday, 9th, it was Maddux's turn behind the wheel at Fort Payne Motor Speedway. This was Maddux's first-time racing at Fort Payne Motor Speedway and only the team's second time.

Maddux took his 604 Crate Late Model up to the track where he and the team started out the night with the second fastest lap time of 14.983. This was Maddux's second time qualifying on the front row in a two-lap qualifying session, something that he was very proud of.

When the green flag dropped, Maddux began chasing down the leader, but since the track was only one lane around the bottom, passing was difficult. Midway through the race a lap car got between Maddux and the leader, causing him to lose ground.

Maddux quickly chased the leader back down but could not pass him on the outside, instead sliding up the wall and breaking off some of his spoiler and disrupting the car's downforce. Maddux raced the leader hard but could not get by him and winding up with a great second place finish.

Next weekend the team plans to race in Clanton, AL, at Buckshot Speedway for a $3,000 to win 604 Crate Race. Caden Mullinax will drive the number 3 604 car as he looks for his first win of the season.
